Artist Statement/Bio
The best way to describe my work is to say that I paint in abstraction. I always have.
I think of myself as a bold colorist which means that color is the language that I use to translate my feelings about what I see or feel. My objective is to draw the viewer into each piece of my work so that they may explore the work as though following a map to someplace they’ve never been. I construct my paintings and pylons in layers, sometimes exposing what is underneath in order to create an illusion or an effect. I love texture and constantly seek new ways to create unusual surfaces that add another dimension to my work.
At the end of the day, I want to create a desire in the viewer to explore, touch and feel the work I have created and ask themselves “How did he do that?”
