Artist Statement
Color and light are qualities that attract my attention in daily life. So, when it comes to painting, these are also the qualities I work to make come alive in my art. Painting in a realist style provides challenges as well as a sense of satisfaction. There is a joy that comes from being able to render the form with subtle details and rich textural variations — transforming the seemingly mundane into something worthy of a closer look.
Bio
Rosanne Wolfe is an award-winning watercolor artist working in a realist style for over thirty years from her home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Wolfe attended Millersville University and the York Academy of Art, where she studied Liberal Arts/Art and Commercial Art, respectively. She worked in advertising agencies in Gettysburg, Lancaster, and Harrisburg before managing her own home-based, freelance graphic design business while raising her daughter. Through the years she has continued her study of fine art by attending classes and workshops with artists of both national and international acclaim to further her skills in watercolor, oil painting, and drawing.
She earned signature status in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society in 2002, and her work has been juried into national and international competitions — most recently, the Art of the State®: Pennsylvania 2019 Exhibition, and 2017, the Agora Gallery’s 32nd Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition (NYC), and the Manhattan Arts International HERStory: 2017 Online Exhibition (and received the Third Place Award). Wolfe has also exhibited her work in solo and group shows.
In 2019, she began her foray into outdoor art festivals with ARTFest in Hershey, PA and the Lititz Outdoor Fine Art Show in Lititz, PA. In 2019 and 2021, she was awarded 2nd place in the Watercolor category at the Lititz show.
