Artist Statement
Nature, especially flowers, invokes my sense of wonder. Each petal, leaf, and stem, including sharp, soft, straight, and curved elements invite me to see the shape, texture and color that is unique to the plant, creating a spectacular combined harmony. Using bold color to capture my subjects makes my heart sing. Painting allows me to experience a sense of wonder and joy, inviting the viewer to join me on my journey.
Bio
Retired from corporate America after a 35-year career with IBM, Nancy is a self-taught professional artist with a dedicated home studio and gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona where she paints primarily in oil, but also enjoys watercolor, mixed media painting and ceramics.
Nancy exhibits often in shows presented by Camelback Gallery, Oil Painters of America, American Artists Professional League, and the Arizona Art Alliance where she most recently won the President's Award for her Field of Dreams oil painting. She participates in monthly shows hosted by the Sonoran Arts League and is a Host Studio for their annual signature event, Hidden in the Hills Artist Studio Tour.
She is a juried member of Oil Painters of America, The American Artists Professional League, and the Sonoran Arts League. She is also a Board Member, volunteer, and instructor with the Sonoran Arts League where she shares her passion for art by teaching workshops for the Veterans, Youth, and the public.
Additionally, she teaches private group art workshops in her studio maker space where she offers mixed media collage, reverse glass decoupage, and beginning acrylic painting, all for ages 6 and up. Workshops are scheduled to accommodate the participants and run three hours long.
Nancy has an Arizona, state-issued fingerprint clearance card.
