Artist Statement
I have been painting since childhood. I believe that a great work of art comes from the personal observations of the artist and not from photographs. I pride myself on being able to paint Plein Air landscapes, seascapes, and portraiture on site quickly and accurately. I then follow-up with larger studio paintings using digital photographs as backup to the plein air or live model studies.
I love the great outdoors and particularly the Sierra Nevada mountains and the California coast between Carmel and Big Sur. I hope that art viewers like my paintings as much as I enjoy painting them at some of the most beautiful locations on this earth!
Bio
I have been in over one hundred painting competitions and exhibitions throughout the USA over my thirty-year art career. I have received a number of prestigious awards and honors including coveted artist choice awards and a regional winner in a National Paint the Parks competition. I’ve also judged shows, given painting demonstrations, and held critiques for several Northern California art associations.

Gallery Representation & Exhibition Schedule
I have been in many prestigious art galleries as a represented artist and in group shows and exhibitions throughout the USA in my art career. This year I chose to leave the galleries and be self-represented in my art endeavors. This is a work in-progress, however, as the digital world is quite daunting to this artist!
My first one-man virtual show is now on my website from June 21 through the end of September. Its entitled “The Beauty of Garrapata”. I will also be in the California Art Clubs inaugural Biennale Exhibition entitled “Celebrating California” from September 29 through November 5, 2022 at the Blue Line Art Gallery in Roseville, CA.
