Artist Statement/Bio
As a former still life photographer I have evolved into a still life painter, painting from life. I have always had an insatiable curiosity about trying new ideas which is one of the reasons I now work in oils - there is always more to learn and it completely holds my interest. Painting from life not only gives me the opportunity to paint what I see, but to go beyond that following the light. I paint wet into wet enjoying the push and pull of the paints.
I am originally from Michigan now living in Northern California halfway between the city of San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. For the past few years I have been studying with Kelli Folsom at the Scottsdale Artists School as well as in her studio in Denver. I also work with Philippe Gandiol in his studio in Davis, California. Building a good foundation was important to me and I am lucky to have these wonderful artists as mentors.
This year I have had work published in the American Art Collector magazine, the APERO Fine Art Catalogue, Southwest Art Magazine on-line, and Artists Network Magazine on-line.
