Artist Statement/Bio
I love watercolor's dynamic nature and how it moves, flows, and participates in the creation process. It produces effects unattainable with other media. While preparing with sketches and studies is a must, spontaneity is a part of my painting process. I let the painting guide me and never quite know how the journey will end. My ultimate goal is to create engaging paintings with emotional impact that resonate with others.
Judy is a self-taught artist, coming from a family of artists. She develops her paintings with thorough reconnaissance work. She goes out on photo shoots in various atmospheric conditions, sketches outdoors, takes notes, and completes color and values studies. From there, back in the studio, she lets the paintbrush guide her. In addition to being a full-time artist, Judy also conducts multiple painting workshops and classes throughout the year.
