Artist Statement / Bio
Many layers of oil paint or pastel go into my work, creating a third dimension in each original piece. The subject matter changes and varies from a study of a single flower to the wide open expanses of the Alaskan wilderness. I am most renowned for my mastery of water images. I have been juried into 20 national and international shows in the last 36 months and now belong to the “Signature Circle” for Paint America, and I have “Signature Membership” in The Pastel Society of Colorado and Plein Air Artists of Colorado. From 2019 through 2021, I was juried into many venues. In the past I was also included in the prestigious “Plein Air Rockies” taking the Silver Award and Wyoming’s “Prairies to Peaks” taking Second Place (or first place under Best of Show). Previously I was a featured artist in American Art Collector, Southwest Art, Colored Pencil Magazine, and many others. “Plein Air” magazine includes an article written by me and an editorial on my artwork.
As a Master Signature artist for Paint America, a Signature member of Pastel Society of Colorado and Plein Air Painters, Colorado, my work has been juried into many international and national venues. My work has been featured in every major art magazine. Recently, I was juried into the Sonoran Desert Museum show “A Brush with the Desert,” which is showing December 2021 and January 2022 in Tucson, Arizona. Four paintings were juried into the Randy Higbee gallery show in Costa Mesa, CA., as well as the online show for the Huse-Skelly Gallery in Newport Beach California, all showing in December of 2021. I have been awarded many ribbons from shows all over the United States.
