Artist Statement
We are all uniquely created by a great God, all much the same yet all so very different! We all have a story! Inspiration is everywhere and I am never without it! Every face I see is a face I would love to paint, be it people or their pets.
Pastels are my medium of choice due to its intense color. I love color! My paintings have been said to be “delicate yet bold.” What a compliment I find that to be! I always strive for the detail that must be present to make the subject who they truly are, bringing out their personality and character. But I must say it with color!
Bio
I create original works of art in the pastel medium. I welcome commissioned portraits of adults, children and pets, painted from life or from the clients own photograph references.
I am self taught, having studied with some of the finest portrait artists in the US. Starting with the instruction of portrait and figure painter, Karl Foster, for numerous years, I then began taking workshops with nationally renowned portrait artists including Daniel E. Greene, Wende Corparale, William Schneider, Christine Swann, Alain Picard and others.
As an instructor of Pastel Painting at the Art Center School & Galleries of Mechanicsburg, PA, I teach beginner to advanced students, ages 16 to senior adults. Workshops are frequently offered. Private lessons are given from my home studio. Custom conservation framing is offered to students and clients also from my home studio.
