Artist Statement
My goal as an artist is to capture the essence of life and spirit through water, oil, ink and photography. When choosing a subject, I go with what brings joy to my life. I strive to capture mood and atmosphere in my work. My creativity originates with a deep love and respect for the Earth and her many creatures great and small. Connected we are in a gossamer web of light and color.
Bio
Anna's passion for art has been a life-long journey of creativity and color. It began in her youth with encouragement from her late mother who saw talent in a budding artist. Through formal art education and workshops in her home state of Connecticut, she mastered the mediums of pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolor. Although like many artists of her generation, she chose a different career path and worked for decades as a senior paralegal and full-charge bookkeeper.
After retiring from the legal profession in 2009, she relocated to the West Coast and continued her studies in art and digital media at Community School of Music & Arts in Mountain View, California. Since then, her artwork and photography have been exhibited in more than 75 group, solo, regional, national and international juried art shows in California, Oregon, Massachusetts and Canada. Her paintings have appeared in newspapers and multiple publications including Southwest Art Magazine and The Artistic Touch 6. She served as a children's art juror in the Bay Area and taught watercolor classes in Oregon. Anna now lives in Western Massachusetts where she maintains a home studio. She is a juried member of Oil Painters of America, and paints plein air with several local groups. Besides her love of art, Anna is a professional photographer and freelance writer.
